Ignored Action of Systemic Racism!

Systemic racism is often ignored or overlooked due to a combination of social, political, historical, and psychological factors. While many people recognize individual acts of racism, systemic racism, which refers to entrenched policies, practices, and institutions that produce and maintain racial inequalities, can be more challenging to see and acknowledge.

Many people aren't fully aware of the deep historical and structural roots of racism. Often, school curricula either downplay or overlook the full story of colonialism, slavery, segregation, and discriminatory policies that have shaped our societies. When this vital context is missing, people might mistakenly see racial inequalities as natural or simply due to personal failings, rather than understanding the systemic barriers at play. This education gap can lead to a limited view of how racism extends beyond obvious acts of prejudice. I used to believe that integration in our educational institution unfairly burdened minorities, mainly because of unequal pay standards. Even when minorities performed the same work as their peers, they always earned less. Interestingly, some of their counterparts were stay-at-home housewives taking care of children. The minority wives often had to take low-paying jobs despite having a higher level of education.

Talking about racism, especially systemic racism, can sometimes be uncomfortable for many, particularly those who benefit from the current systems. Recognizing that institutions may be biased in favor of certain groups can be challenging because it involves confronting brutal truths about privilege and inequality. Sometimes, in response, people might deny or downplay these issues, often saying things like "racism no longer exists" or "everyone has an equal chance if they work hard." How can anyone say that racism no longer exists when they are, in turn, trying to erase its history? If integration existed, it was due to the segregated society that produced it.

Erasing history because some sections of society are embarrassed by it and don’t want future generations to know about it is cowardly and vile. Currently, the party in support of returning Americans to the Jim Crow era wants to ban historical documents from being taught in schools. Adjutant General Alan Wilson of South Carolina stated that “Our schools are supposed to be places of learning and collaboration, not indoctrination into woke ideologies that assign blame or condemnation based on race or sex.” You might recall his father, Congressman Joe Wilson, who called out President Obama as a liar, breaking congressional decorum during the President’s speech to Congress in September 2009. How disrespectful, and yet, it demonstrates that there are double standards in America. Embracing these conversations with openness can lead to greater understanding and progress.

Addressing systemic racism means making profound structural changes that challenge existing power balances and ensure resources are shared more fairly. Those who hold power, such as politicians, corporations, and other institutions, might resist these changes because they want to keep their control and economic benefits. Because of this, efforts to fix racial inequalities often get delayed or weakened, and public conversations tend to avoid criticizing the system. Even though former President Obama said he was working for all the people, figures like Mitch McConnell and his colleagues quickly began opposing him, trying to block efforts to create a fairer playing field. They claimed they were protecting the country’s majority interests. Sadly, today, they are doing all they can to divide and harm the nation, and there seems to be little opposition to this from others.

Mainstream media often focuses on individual incidents of racism (such as hate crimes or offensive statements) rather than examining the broader systems that enable racial disparities in areas like housing, healthcare, education, policing, and employment. This framing reinforces the idea that racism is the result of "bad apples" rather than institutionalized injustice. Some networks openly display their bias without shame. Misinformation News is spread with one goal in mind. That is making sure that the truth is hidden.

Cultural myths like meritocracy ("anyone can succeed if they try hard enough") and colorblindness ("I don’t see race") can hide the real impact of systemic racism. These stories might cause people to overlook racial inequalities or wrongly blame marginalized groups for their struggles, instead of understanding the role of institutional barriers. The founding fathers accepted Black men and their patriotism during the Revolutionary War, but did not give them credit for assisting in winning the battles, even though some were slaves. Keep in mind that some of the founding fathers were slave owners. How could they recognize that these courageous, black men not only helped win the war but also designed Washington, D. C., the seat of American government?

Since the post-Civil War era, right after Reconstruction, most laws were designed to keep minorities from achieving equality. The riders who masked their faces used fear and intimidation to silence voters and obstruct progress at every turn. Those were the Jim Crow days. To me, that feels a lot like the MAGA movement. Hate seems to follow hate, with eyes wide open and mouths closed tightly.

Systemic racism is embedded in laws, policies, and practices that might seem fair at first but can create unequal outcomes for different racial groups. Because it isn't always obvious or intentional, many people struggle to see or understand it. This complexity can make some overlook or dismiss it, especially if they haven’t experienced it themselves. After all, where in this country would they encounter it? The system is designed to protect their rights, not necessarily everyone else’s. It’s as if the Supreme Court has taken off Lady Justice’s blindfold.

Systemic racism is often overlooked not because it's absent, but because acknowledging it can shake up long-standing beliefs, reveal deep societal issues, and call for change. Overcoming this denial involves education, awareness, empathy, and a dedicated effort toward fairness and justice. Only when society as a whole recognizes the reality and effects of systemic racism can we work toward genuine racial equality. Bring your lunch, this is going to be a long battle.

Restoration by the Spirit!

Restore my spirit and mind, Lord, to the early days of my innocent youth. It was a time when the world and old age did not corrupt me, and my parents shielded me. It was a place where I was protected from anxiety, stress, and worldly demands. I ate, played, said my prayers, and didn’t have a care in the world, free from the burdens of responsibilities. Now, I live in a world of corruption, betrayal, and division. The world I live in rarely mentions your name, yet people would rather use it in profanity or deceit. Renew my mind.

If it weren’t for Your Spirit, Lord, I would still be bound to the chains of worry and doubt. This heartfelt expression truly resonates with me because it beautifully reflects my own journey—moving from feelings of anxiety and uncertainty to a place of peace and confidence, all thanks to the loving and inspiring work of the Holy Spirit.

There was a time in my life when fear was my constant companion. I worried about the future, my career, relationships, finances, and even my worth. Every decision felt like a trap, and what-ifs overshadowed every step forward. In my mind, I was a prisoner to worry, dragging the heavy chains of doubt behind me.

But then I encountered God’s Spirit in a way I hadn’t before. It wasn’t through some loud, dramatic moment. It was quiet. Still. But unmistakable. Through prayer, Scripture, and moments of honest vulnerability before God, I began to understand that I wasn’t alone. The Spirit began to replace my fear with faith, my doubts with truth.

Romans 8:15 says, “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.” That verse became real to me. I realized I was no longer a slave to fear. The Spirit reminded me that I am a child of God, held in the hands of the One who controls all things.

Now, do I still struggle at times? Yes. But the difference is that I don’t face those struggles alone. The Spirit whispers truth into the chaos of my mind, calming the storm and anchoring me in God's promises. That’s freedom. That’s peace. And that’s why I say: If it weren’t for Your Spirit, Lord, I would still be bound. But now, I am free. Remember, this isn’t just a one-time struggle; it’s a daily choice to stand against evil. We must remain vigilant and stay alert. There are moments when I feel overwhelmed and surrounded. Yet, when I think of the goodness of the Lord and His immense love for me, it gives me peace and confidence to go on. It reassures me that I’m never fighting this battle alone, and that support and strength are always nearby.

There’s much for us to be thankful for, but we often overlook the many blessings we take for granted. We can choose to repent and turn away from doing wrong, or keep doing the same as we always do. Change is Difficult, but necessary for spiritual growth. Change is one of life’s most significant challenges. It unsettles us, breaks our routines, and often forces us to confront parts of ourselves we’d rather ignore. Yet, despite the discomfort it brings, change is essential, especially for spiritual growth. It is through change that we learn, evolve, and move closer to a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Spiritual growth demands transformation. It asks us to let go of ego, shed outdated beliefs, and embrace uncertainty. These are not easy tasks. Letting go of what is familiar can feel like a loss. It’s natural to resist. But resistance to change can also keep us stagnant, locked in patterns that hinder our spiritual journey.

Christianity speaks of being “transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2), emphasizing that change is integral to becoming more aligned with divine purpose. Across cultures and faiths, the message is clear: spiritual growth is not possible without inner transformation.

Often, spiritual breakthroughs occur during or after times of crisis, moments when change is not optional but is forced upon us. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a personal failure, or a significant life transition, these experiences challenge our identity and beliefs. But they also open the door to new insights. Pain, though unwelcome, can be a powerful teacher. It strips away illusion and invites us to seek something more profound, truth.

Ultimately, change allows us to become more authentic. It teaches humility, fosters empathy, and expands our perspective. As we evolve spiritually, we begin to see that growth is not about achieving perfection, but about becoming more aware, more compassionate, and more present.

While change is undeniably difficult, it is also a sacred part of the spiritual journey. Without it, we remain stuck in who we were, unable to become who we are meant to be. Embracing change with courage and openness is not only an act of growth, but also an act of faith.

I call out to the true shepherds of the flock, choose now to stand up for justice and righteousness in this land. Do not be afraid to lose your mega church, image, and 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status. Lead your flocks with the Spirit of Truth, and you will not fail. The Lord gives and the Lord takes. The Lord goes before us, and He will not fail.

Curses, Conned Again!

What is this so-called Big, Beautiful Bill About? I took some time to browse the internet to find a simple explanation, free from the arrogance often expressed by GOP & MAGA supporters. These are the "Trumpicons", not the Republicans of old. They have no consideration for God, Family, and the Republic; instead, they fall in line like zombies and the Borg. Yes, I even used AI. We can’t believe everything we see and read. Conduct your research and make an informed decision.

What’s in the Bill?

Tax Cuts Extended & Expanded.

Makes the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent.

Adds new breaks (e.g., tax-free tips, overtime pay, higher child tax credit, and a Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) between the USA & Russia. (Hmmm) Tax cuts deduction cap raised to $40K/$80K).

Significant Spending Cuts & Work Rules

Drastically reduces federal funding for Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), and green energy programs.

Introduces strict work requirements (e.g., 80 hours/month for Medicaid recipients).

Social Security, Medicare Cuts & Elder Care

Across-the-board 4% Medicare cuts starting in 2026, which could risk hospital resources and rural care.

Middle-to-upper-income seniors will benefit temporarily from the $6K/$12K deduction. Fewer taxes in the short term.

Low-income and vulnerable seniors will face increased healthcare & drug costs, reduced Medicaid/Medicare benefits, and food assistance rollbacks.

Long-term care sector Nursing homes face delayed staffing mandates but squeezed funding overall, potentially leading to closures or cutbacks.

All seniors (long-term) will face a fiscal drag from the bill, which could further pressure Social Security’s sustainability.

If your income qualifies, prepare to maximize the senior deduction—but remember it expires after 2028.

Anticipate higher healthcare costs if you're low-income or rely on Medicaid/Medicare Savings Programs.

Watch for state-level rule changes—implementation of Medicaid cuts will vary by state and could be phased in over time.

How Did This Law Pass? Why Does It Matter?

It utilized the budget reconciliation process, meaning it only required a simple majority in the Senate (51 votes), thereby avoiding the usual 60-vote requirement. In my opinion, crooked people do crooked things. They knew the bill wouldn’t get through. What’s done in the dark will be exposed. Many of you voted for these people.

Senate passage was tight. Vice President JD Vance broke a 50‑50 tie.

Major Concerns & Criticism

Huge deficit: Adds $2.4–3.8 trillion to the national debt over 10 years. Didn’t this happen with Trump leaving office with more debt than we came in?

Healthcare losses: Up to 11 million people could lose Medicaid, with studies warning of thousands more deaths annually.

Source: vox.com

Unpopular cuts: Roughly 55% of Americans oppose the bill, while only 29% supported it. I’m sure that number will drop lower when they are affected.

Sources: time.com, govfacts.org

Environmental and social fallout: Clean-energy rollbacks, limits on rights for transgender care and abortion funding spur intense backlash

Sources: indianexpress.com, en.wikipedia.org

Why Call It “Beautiful”? Nothing beautiful about taking advantage of people and watching them suffer.

Supporters say it’s a streamlined, powerhouse package that locks in tax relief, boosts defense and border security, and forces federal spending discipline. The name is partly branding meant to signal simplicity and scope.

What Happens Next?

The Senate passed its version by July 1, 2025, and sent it to the House for final approval.

Sources: en.wikipedia.org, nypost.com

The House and Senate must reconcile their differences (such as the SALT cap and Medicare provisions) before the bill can be signed into law.

Democrats should weaponize this “Disgusting Bill’s” unpopularity in the 2026 midterms. We shall see.

This is a mega‑bill that mixes significant tax cuts for individuals and businesses with deep spending cuts to healthcare and green energy, alongside massive funding for defense and border control. Passed through a shortcut that only required a simple Senate majority, it’s already drawing fierce opposition—from lawmakers, public opinion, and financial watchdogs—because of its projected impact on deficits and vulnerable Americans. Whether it becomes law depends on final votes and political pushback in the next few weeks.

There are other significant issues that we as Americans will face, such as student loans, tariffs, and deportation. Let’s reflect on the challenges or solutions that lie ahead.

The Student Loan Crisis

The rising cost of higher education in the United States has left millions of Americans burdened with student loan debt. As of 2025, over 43 million borrowers owe a collective $1.7 trillion, with many unable to make significant progress in repayment due to stagnant wages and inflated interest rates.

Student loans impact not only individual borrowers but also the broader economy. Young adults delay buying homes, starting families, or investing in businesses due to financial insecurity. While efforts like the Biden administration’s partial debt relief and income-driven repayment plans have provided some relief, long-term solutions remain politically divisive. Critics argue that widespread forgiveness is unfair to those who have paid off their loans. However, supporters maintain that accessible higher education is a public good and that debt relief could stimulate economic growth. It could happen if the economic playing field were level. The playbook is biased and corrupt. A sustainable path forward could include tuition-free community collegeinterest-free federal loans, and expanded Pell Grants to ensure education doesn’t come with a lifetime financial penalty.

Tariffs and Trade

Tariffs have been a controversial tool in U.S. economic policy, especially since the Trump administration's trade war with China. While designed to protect American industries from foreign competition, tariffs often result in higher prices for consumers and strained international relations.

Many Americans support tariffs to revive domestic manufacturing and create jobs. However, these policies can backfire. For example, tariffs on steel and aluminum increased production costs for U.S. companies that rely on those materials. Additionally, retaliatory tariffs imposed by other nations have harmed American farmers and exporters.

Moving forward, the challenge lies in striking a balance between economic protectionism and global competitiveness. Smart trade policy should include targeted tariffs, labor standards, including wages, and investment in domestic innovation rather than broad-based import taxes. American economic strength should come not from isolation but from competing fairly on a global stage.

Deportation and Immigration

Immigration has always been a cornerstone of American identity, but the debate over deportation and border security remains deeply divisive. Mass deportations, family separations, and detention center conditions have sparked national and international outrage in recent years.

Supporters of strict deportation policies argue that enforcing immigration laws is essential for national security and economic stability. On the other hand, opponents highlight the humanitarian cost and economic contributions of undocumented immigrants, many of whom have lived in the U.S. for decades, work essential jobs, and pay taxes.

A fair immigration policy should prioritize legal pathways to citizenship, protection for DACA recipients and asylum seekers, and humane enforcement. Rather than relying solely on deportation, the U.S. can invest in modernizing immigration courts, creating more efficient visa processes, and addressing root causes in migrants' home countries.

These three issues, student loans, tariffs, and deportation, highlight the complexity of American policy challenges. They are not isolated topics, but interconnected threads in the fabric of American life. Solving them will require empathy, compromise, and long-term thinking that prioritizes both individual well-being and national prosperity.

There exists no new phenomenon under the sun; however, this blatant denial of rights for American citizens is therefore unsurprising to people of color. What could possibly motivate others to vote in favor of the convicted individual in the White House other than a lack of support for a woman who knows the law? He uses his authority to suppress, threaten, and bully the judicial and legislative branches of government like a sadistic tyrant. He governs as one of the corrupt leaders of the past. These are trying times, but if we keep our faith in God and pray together as one nation, who knows? Prayer can change things.

It's Your Anniversary America!

Many Americans will be observing the celebration of the United States' Independence this weekend. The festivities include fireworks, music, barbecues, and the donning of red, white, and blue attire. Citizens will reflect on the sacrifices made by others and remain mindful of the events that transpired centuries ago in American history, specifically the wars fought and the lives lost in the struggle against the tyrannical English monarchy. Following an arduous battle that resulted in numerous casualties among Americans and British forces, representatives from the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. On August 2, 1776, fifty-six representatives signed it. Six of these signatories affixed their signatures for approximately 18 months. Nevertheless, an official declaration of independence, the pursuit of happiness, and the principle that all men are created equal were proclaimed. But were all men equal?

As of July 4, 2025, a significant and comprehensive budget bill has been enacted by a figure of American origin, illustrating the notion that equality among individuals and citizens is not universally upheld. The authorities in our government appear to continue their celebrations, perceiving their actions as fulfilling the desires of the dictator by this date. Over 16 million American citizens are expected to endure hardships due to the lack of health insurance, food shortages, reduced assistance programs, housing insecurity, and diminished retirement benefits. Is there anyone within this demographic who would find such circumstances worth celebrating? Does this outcome align with the principles envisioned by the signers of the Declaration of Independence? A nation founded by immigrants and enslaved individuals demonstrates an unusual manner of expressing appreciation through the neglect and erasure of its historical origins and the deportation of these groups. The Republican Party appears to have diminished its respect for divine principles, the family unit, and the nation itself.

Regarding the issue of freedom, President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, which addressed the issue of slavery. However, the enslaved individuals in Texas were not informed of this until June 19, 1865. General Gordon Grainger of the Union arrived and announced their emancipation. Texas was the final Confederate territory to become aware of and communicate this information to the enslaved population. The full details may remain unknown.

I question whether politicians who endorsed the “One Big Beautiful Bill” fully appreciated how this detrimental budget legislation diminishes the financial standing of the middle class and impoverished populations, whilst augmenting the wealth of the affluent and the national budget. This legislation does not generate savings; rather, it exacerbates the deficit by diminishing funds allocated for social programs intended to support education, families, and the nation. These politicians have entered into a harmful agreement, and when consequences unfold, it will not be prudent to delay repentance. Will their constituents continue to support them, or will they recall the sense of betrayal they experienced during the midterm elections? I do know that God is in control and will rule the land with justice and peace. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV states “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” We must believe that God keeps His promises. It’s up to us to get on our knees and pray.

Warfare Between the Flesh and the Spirit!

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed, everyone! I've reached a point where my actions no longer make sense, even to me. Each morning, I make it a habit to read my Bible and other spiritual teachings. Last week, I began exploring the Holy Spirit, who is part of the Holy Trinity. I understand enough not to overstep the mystery of the three in One, but I was eager to learn more about the Spirit’s nature. For the past two weeks, I've been praying to be guided by the Spirit, who hears and intercedes for our salvation. However, this week, I’ve hit a bit of a spiritual wall that’s left me feeling puzzled about my thoughts and actions.

I'm generally a very organized person, but I am rigid at times. I hadn't realized how challenging it can be when things don't go as planned or don't align with my expectations. Recently, I had to accept two rescheduled appointments, even though I wasn't excited about it. I also tried replanting my vegetables, which was a bit stressful and almost damaged them. I was a little disappointed because, despite growing nicely and producing fruit, the veggies had outgrown their containers. I even considered spraying pesticides to protect them from pests, but I wanted to keep them organic. I looked for safe homemade remedies to deal with the mites or bugs, but I couldn't find any that worked.

I’m not finished yet. I took my car in for an oil change, and anyone who's ever been through the process of visiting an auto repair shop knows that preventative maintenance can sometimes be more complicated than expected. I left my vehicle at the shop for the first time in years because my wife and I had an appointment to attend. I was hoping the car would be ready when we returned in a few hours. Instead, I received a text from the service department informing me that they had found a leak in the power steering line and would contact my insurance company to determine if it was covered under warranty. In the past, I have not encountered any issues. After some time, the agent texted that the claim was denied.

I went home and searched for my contract, but I couldn’t find it. I then tried to download it online, but that didn’t work either. So, I called the company, and they informed me that they were experiencing issues with their computers and couldn’t open any documents. They did mention they had received a request from the dealership, but I was puzzled as to why the request was denied when no one could review the documents. They couldn’t explain it. It made me wonder if it would be easier to tell the agent that the computers are down and to call back later. I was also thinking about where the honest, reliable workers are in this business. Are you following me so far? To add to the frustration, my wife kindly took me to the dealership to pick up my car, even though I was planning to return it after the weekend once I contacted the warranty company. I wanted the service agent to show me where I might need to refill the power steering fluid. When we looked under the hood, I noticed that the container wasn’t even secured—an easy fix, but it just didn’t seem right. I don’t want to drive anything loose, especially in the engine, on these busy roads. So, I decided to leave the car there—it was enough for one day. I didn’t take it off searching for part numbers, the service department did.

My dear wife wasn’t spared from my anxiety, and she often endured my struggles. We went for a walk on Saturday morning, though not together. I was wrestling with the inner conflict between my flesh and the Spirit. During that walk, the truth became clear—I wasn’t aligning my will with God's. My frustration and anxiety showed that I was hoping God’s Will would match mine. Sometimes I wonder, who do I think I am? I asked to learn about the Spirit, but I was still expecting everything to happen my way. No wonder I felt so frustrated and exhausted. My mind has been resisting the Spirit, and I’ve broken many spiritual laws—so many that it would take pages to list them all. I have a good, loving woman who does not deserve this type of behavior from me. The walk was my wife’s idea to get me out of the house. By the time we returned, her stomach was upset because of me.

As I continue to grow spiritually, I understand the importance of disciplining myself to live fully in the spirit and surrender my mind to that spiritual guidance. Currently, I find myself in a challenging situation with my wife, having made a mistake that I deeply regret. I am grateful that God's grace is giving me another chance to do better. I want to focus my thoughts on what is above, rather than on earthly concerns. Truly, I need to transform my mind to align with what is spiritual and avoid being shaped by worldly thoughts. I will continue praying for the Holy Spirit to lead me.

History in the Making!

We are living in remarkable times, and it's disheartening to see that history is being rewritten. It’s truly painful to think of how our ancestors would react to knowing that their contributions are overlooked by some who dislike the color of our skin. This kind of hate has echoed through the ages. Unfortunately, it appears to have taken a strong hold in our governmental leadership, and those who elected them want these decisions to be implemented. People of color have played a vital role in building this mighty nation, contributing their inventions, critical thinking, and even sacrificing their well-being. Brave Americans have fought and lost their lives through bombs and assassinations to uphold the rights of all. Yet, in recent months, we’ve witnessed troubling actions that undermine justice and democracy, with our leaders stripping away the rights of citizens, especially those who are most vulnerable and have no one to turn to.

It’s truly disheartening to see that programs designed to assist American citizens with special and economic needs are facing cuts, especially when that funding seems to be directed toward helping the wealthy, who already possess generational wealth. I don't mean to sound overly gloomy, but it disturbs me how proud some may seem of the double standards present in our government. Issues like corruption within the Supreme Court often go unnoticed or unreported. It feels like the blindfolds are off, and unfortunately, some judges appear to prioritize money over justice, allowing a pay-to-play mentality to emerge. It's concerning to think that we currently have a felon leading the country, alongside many others in positions of power. The ongoing battle against fake news has led many to question the credibility of any news source. While some reports seem to lean towards the far right, it’s essential to acknowledge that many owners have connections to those in power. Journalists who strive to reveal the truth often face consequences, creating an atmosphere of fear for others who wish to speak honestly. This is indeed a troubling situation. The deregulations and elimination of entire departments mean that anyone who supports DEI could find themselves without funding or tax breaks.

It's essential to recognize the diverse forms and evolution of social media. Initially, it was designed to help us stay connected with classmates, former classmates, family, and friends. We could share news in real-time, reaching people all around the world in just minutes! Folks began using social media to express their personal beliefs and explore new ideas. Eventually, the owners of these media platforms began rewarding those who were most effective in promoting content, which opened new revenue streams. However, some individuals found ways to leverage this format for political gain, sometimes leading to the dissemination of misinformation to broader audiences. As a result, influencers emerged and became key players, capturing the attention of politicians eager to engage with them. Artificial intelligence, or AI, is here. It will soon take over the methods and the way we live. We already rely on Alexa and Siri, and now we have exciting options like ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Microsoft CoPilot! Tech companies are emerging rapidly to meet the growing demand, which presents both opportunities and challenges in the workforce due to the rise of robotics and AI. The impact of AI can be either positive or negative, depending on the sources it uses for data.

We continue to move forward with the comforting belief that God is in control and will always be there for us. I sometimes find myself reflecting on what our ancestors must have felt during their difficult times of slavery. For generations, they prayed for a miracle—one that would touch the hearts of men and women and inspire them to change for the better. Our focus remains not on our own will, but on God’s Will. Humanity has often turned away from God and His commandments, choosing instead idols made of stone or flesh, which are inevitably imperfect and flawed. Our religious leaders are facing challenges like never before. They now have the choice to follow God and stand firm alone or to follow a man and fall together. We know our time here is limited.

Does Lying Justify Doing Wrong?

Sometimes I find myself thinking about some pretty wild questions, and I can't help but wonder why I've even said them in the first place. The answers could sway either way, depending on different perspectives. If I verbally or physically assault someone because I love them, does it make it right? Take this thought, for example: What if I had to betray someone’s trust to keep them safe from harm? Would I be wrong for the betrayal, yet right in my desire to protect them? Depending on some people’s perspective, there is a distinct difference, but can emotions blind them to the truth?

If I acted out of revenge towards someone, fully aware that I was going against God’s wishes, could that ever be justified? After all, God reminds us that vengeance belongs only to Him. My spiritual upbringing teaches me that if I've offended God in ways that don't align with His Will, then I've sinned. Any action I take that isn't aligned with God's intentions ultimately becomes self-serving. God’s intentions supersede self-intentions. It makes me realize that I'm already in the wrong and struggling to find a justification for it. How long can I get away with that?

Am I the only one who feels brave enough to share my honest perspective? Sometimes, when the moment feels right, we twist the truth just a little. While a little white lie isn’t always the best option, we often find ways to rationalize it. In the end, embracing the truth brings us the peace, freedom, and comfort we seek. In all this confusion, do we ever find ourselves comparing our journeys to those of others? We often feel the pull to present ourselves as the kind of people who uphold integrity to fit into a specific social mold, yet we sometimes fake it to fit in. This, in turn, can lead to deceiving both ourselves and those around us. Those closest to us often see right through it. After all, a lie remains a lie, regardless of how it’s told.

Some Words For Our Children!

I appreciate attending my wife’s church for several reasons. We attend together, and I take pleasure in witnessing her devotion as she praises and thanks God. This experience became familiar during our courtship, particularly when we participated in the Woman, Thou Art Loose events organized by Bishop T. D. Jakes. Furthermore, I found it remarkable to observe the congregants, filled with the Holy Spirit, dancing and rejoicing during the praise music. Given my lifelong affiliation as a Catholic, this experience contrasts significantly with my attendance at Mass.

Additionally, the music and singing from the Praise Team are exceptional. The highlight of the service is the inspiring sermon delivered by the church’s bishop, with whom I find a strong connection in his topics. When we leave, I repeat his message throughout the week. Including Jesus in daily operations helps me to complete my assignments without frustration and anxiety.

I observed the interaction between two young men who were seated in front of us. They appeared to be brothers, with one being significantly larger than the other and seemingly younger. Upon their arrival in the row, the older brother gestured for the younger one to take his seat first, resulting in the younger individual occupying a position with an empty seat between them. I immediately discerned that the son had accompanied his father to the church. I was particularly impressed to witness a father who is actively involved in his son’s life. Given the prevailing negative narratives surrounding absent fathers and unruly teenagers, I found this sight encouraging. When the father gently nudged his son to accompany him towards the altar call, it served as further confirmation of their bond. What was particularly remarkable was the son’s immediate obedience. This was truly a fantastic moment. I didn’t see any disdain or hear any backtalk.

I later wondered what this father would write to his son if he could during his last moments?

“Baby boy, when you were born, I held you in one hand. You were so tiny and vulnerable. You just stared at me when I picked you up as if you knew me. You became still when I started speaking. I was expressing my sincere appreciation and love for you and assured you that I will do everything in my power to protect and provide for you and your mother. There’s a lot to talk about, and if the Lord Wills, I hope to speak with you about it in phases. Right now, you’re too young to understand, but as you grow older, you’ll be able to understand me better. The main lesson will begin now. Your baptism into knowing God is next month. You are my offering and thanksgiving.

Look at you now, at four months old. I see you are starting to look a little like me, but you have your mom’s eyes. So, your first words were 'Mama' and ‘no, son.’ I’m not surprised. Your mom talks to you whenever she gets a chance. It seems that all I do is change your diapers, strap you in your car seat, and give you a quick kiss on the forehead when I leave and return from work. I do get to hold you at church so your mom can get some rest. We watch the games together, but most of the time, you’re sleeping. I still talk to you, but you were always reaching for Mama. I like that. Man to little man, your mother is always to be respected and cared for, no matter how old you get. She will be your anchor and source of stability as you grow older. Always listen to her.

I hope to always be there for you. Being Black in America comes with disadvantages and roadblocks, as some systems are designed to discourage and slow the pursuit of opportunities and freedoms. Many men who look like me have been hurt or jailed simply because of the color of our skin. You’re looking at me with curiosity, but in time, you will understand how much I love you and want the very best life has to offer you.

Well, well, son. You have now conquered peeing in your diapers and are completely potty-trained. You took about six months, while your sister learned in half that time. That is no problem. You will soon have to overcome the bed-wetting issue.

Regarding your sister, Joy, I want to remind you that she’s older and has a lot of wisdom to share. She might give you advice because she understands our family dynamics. If she happens to hit you, remember not to hit back. You can always block her punches, but showing her respect is essential, even if your opinions differ. Try practicing this now! As you grow older and enter your relationships with women, keep this in mind: no matter how upset you might feel, it’s essential never to use your hands against a woman. I want to take you with me when we work in the yard. I want you to learn from me about a man’s responsibilities. I was hoping you could ask questions that are on your mind. Any questions that you might have will not be silly.

Jonathan, I am so glad to be here to video your first steps. You seem to be listening to every word everybody says. I did hear you say no to Joy when she told you not to climb on the end table. She’s just looking out for you. Yes, I did spank you, but not for that. You don’t talk back to your mama. That’s why I tapped you. Spare the rod, spoil the child. I am not into parents feeling that it’s cute when babies talk back. Don’t start bad habits and don’t keep them. I don’t want to visit you in jail or at the grave for being disobedient and following the trends.

How was your first day at kindergarten, Jon? Don’t let your classmates get you into trouble by following them around. You are your own man. Some of them will try to get into your head and call you names if you don’t follow along with them. Would you rather deal with them or me? Your family will not steer you wrong. Don’t embarrass the family’s name. Well, I didn’t get much sleep when your sister started her first day in school. It did prepare me for you. I trust you two, you’re my heart and soul. I only want the best for you. So, trust me. Please don’t create a problem for yourself; ask me anything that is on your mind. If I don’t have an answer, I’ll find someone who does.

Wow! Time truly flies! Look at you, all grown up! Throughout the years, your mother and I have admired yours and Joy’s dedication and commitment to your futures. You've earned your doctorate in engineering and risen to the rank of Captain in the Navy. You and Denise have blessed us with two beautiful grandchildren, and I couldn't be prouder of you, son. Joy is a Medical Doctor practicing pediatrics. You both have guided your families on the wonderful path to God, setting a beautiful example of what it means to serve God. I’m so grateful to have seen our family flourish. Your mother and I thank Him every day for the amazing individuals you and Joy have become. I have loved you with all of my heart, even during our differences.”

Is this something like what that young father told his son? I will never know. I would say this and more with my own.

Another Year, Another Time!

Mother’s Day month brings a mix of emotions for me. On one hand, there’s a beautiful sweetness in remembering all the strong, compassionate women who dedicated their lives, careers, and happiness to their families. These incredible heroines found the strength to raise their children, often on their own, while always supporting and encouraging their young minds. On the other hand, it’s bittersweet for those of us who have lost our mothers; we cherish the moments we shared, yet we miss the chance to discuss our failures and achievements and hear their voices once more.

Since 2016, May has been a particularly difficult month for me, marked by the loss of many dear friends and family members. When I glance at my phone’s calendar, I’m reminded of how closely their birthdays and transitions are intertwined, with just a few days in between. It’s a poignant reminder of the love and memories we share. I miss them dearly.

I experienced another episode like what happened in 2023 when I blacked out from severe dehydration at the graveyard. This time, I overdid it, pressure washing our patio deck in 90-degree weather, and started to feel lightheaded. By the time I thought I needed a drink of water, it was already too late. I made it inside the house, sat down on the floor, and asked my wife to bring me a bottle of water. She came right away, unbuttoned my shirt, loosened my belt, took off my cap, and called 911. The difference this time from last was that I didn’t completely black out. However, I couldn’t see, and my vision went dark, but I could hear everything around me.

I didn’t want EMS, but my wife didn’t take any chances. She told me to stay seated. While I waited, she prayed for me. I boast about a praying woman. Their prayers are strong and sincere. I thought about not finishing the deck and told her. She said that the deck is not worth my life. Then, I thought about being an addition to my May calendar. I didn’t want to be a part of that. But we don’t know the day, time, or hour when we are called. We can at least not do anything to speed up the process.

Take my advice: summer is coming, and those temperatures are going to rise! Let's make sure we stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Take good care of yourselves!

Stay Vigilant!

This morning, I had the extraordinary experience of hearing an 87-year-old English widow perform a piano concerto. The performance was a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, with whom she shared 63 beautiful years of marriage. She had always been an accomplished pianist, deeply passionate about music, while he found joy behind the lens as a skilled photographer. Both excelled in their respective arts but remained humble, often believing many others surpassed them.

Later in life, she discovered her talent for composing music, which added another layer to her artistic expression. Encouraged by her daughter, she decided to play at a local mall, unwittingly captivating an audience that included the renowned musician Jon Batiste. As the first chords filled the air, I noticed Jon’s face light up with recognition, his expression turning contemplative as he absorbed the profound emotion of her performance.

As I listened, I couldn't help but reflect on my journey. What does God have in store for me? What is my purpose? This connection through music sparked deep contemplation about my path and our unknown future.

One might ponder why I find myself contemplating my purpose at this stage of life. One significant factor behind this introspection is the recent discord between my wife and me. As she has taken a much-needed vacation, my household routines have been disrupted, creating an unsettling imbalance. She has been energetically rearranging, packing, and discarding items in the kitchen that haven’t seen the light of day in over a year.

Accustomed to navigating the daily tasks of our home independently, my world has shifted since retirement. I manage our residence's interior and exterior upkeep while she dedicates herself to her professional endeavors. Yet, my domestic responsibilities come with restrictions that leave me feeling constrained. For instance, cleaning the bathrooms has been designated her domain; she believes my efforts in that area fall short of her standards. This division of labor has altered our routines and prompted me to reflect on the nature of my role in the home and our partnership.

Our friction stemmed from a profound misalignment in our perspectives and priorities. That evening, just before the dimming of the sky signaled prayer time, we found ourselves seated across from each other, the air thick with unspoken words. The tension gradually faded as we discussed our actions, revealing the raw vulnerabilities beneath. We took turns admitting our faults—moments where our pride had overshadowed our judgment, and instances where our words had cut deeper than intended.

With honesty, we expressed our emotions; fear, frustration, and regret hung heavily between us. We acknowledged that our responses could have been more measured, that instead of responding with defensiveness, we could have approached each other with empathy and understanding. As the light faded outside, it became clear that our emotions had taken the reins, leading us away from constructive dialogue. Together, we committed to embracing a more patient and compassionate approach moving forward, recognizing that open communication was the key to mending our misalignment.

We must remain ever vigilant against the subtle tactics of the devil. He is constantly looking for vulnerabilities in our lives, seeking to exploit any weaknesses he can find. His greatest weapon is distraction, distracting us from the good and serene aspects of our existence. We might discuss this endlessly, passionately dissecting his methods. Yet, all too often, we slip into his traps, oblivious to the folly of our actions—until the moment comes when we are forced to confront the truth of our naivety. In these moments of revelation, the shadows of our ignorance are cast into the light. Do I mean it when I say, “I repent?” Then why do I do the same thing again? Haven’t I learned anything? I may have failed, but I will continue to push forward. We all must persevere in our efforts.

Some People Build and Some Tear Down!

One man meticulously constructs any structure, pouring his ideas and efforts into every brick and beam. In contrast, another man comes along and dismantles what has been built, erasing the hard work of the first. However, there are exceptions to this simple dichotomy: one individual may build upon the solid foundation laid by another, adding layers of complexity and innovation to the original design. Additionally, a visionary may gather diverse individuals, encouraging them to share their unique perspectives and ideas, extending and enriching the building process. This collaborative approach enhances the original creation and fosters a sense of community and shared purpose, transforming the building into a collective journey of creativity and growth.

At times, change is ignited by a single individual, while other moments see a collective of two or more collaborators, all united by a shared vision. Their motivations often transcend mere financial gain; instead, they may be driven by a deep-seated obligation to uplift others meaningfully. This endeavor could be rooted in a desire to forge a legacy that they hope will inspire and empower future generations to carry it forward.

Throughout life, individuals will inevitably prefer to dismantle rather than create. These people often possess a perspective that emphasizes negativity, homing in on the flaws and failures around them. For them, expressing discontent seems to be the simplest, most accessible form of rebellion—a way to defy the status quo by highlighting the futility they perceive in efforts to improve or uplift.

Now, more than ever, individuals across various platforms persistently try to deceive, misinform, and deny their troubling behaviors and thought processes. Whether through social media, news articles, or public speeches, many are twisting facts and presenting misleading narratives to protect their interests. This culture of denial reflects a lack of accountability and contributes to a broader decline in trust and civility in discourse. As misinformation spreads, the implications for society become increasingly dire, undermining our ability to tackle pressing issues with honesty and integrity. It’s alarming how many people readily accept everything they encounter online without questioning its validity.

The reckoning that awaits us is a universal truth, one that intimate and distant observers alike can sense for those who seek the chance to repent and amend their ways, rest assured that such an opportunity will present itself. Therefore, my earnest counsel is simple: do not procrastinate until it is too late to act.

Throughout our journeys, we have all been alerted to the subtle and profound signs around us through dreams that linger in the mind, moments of heightened awareness, and the deep stirrings of our consciousness. We stand at a crossroads; we can choose to dismiss these messages, allowing them to fade into the background of our busy lives, or we can embrace them, recognizing the call to transformation and redemption.

Turning away from our harmful actions and inclinations is not just advisable but essential. We can reforge our path by consciously shifting our focus towards God and the higher principles of love, compassion, and understanding. Ultimately, the choice remains in our hands. It's a decision laden with weight and consequence that can shape our destinies and the world around us.

Disappointment in the 2025 NFL Draft! Some Things Will Never Change!

Here we go again with the ongoing issues within the NFL. Before the season even kicked off, the draft revealed an unsettling pattern of bias lurking beneath the league’s supposed commitment to unity. Once more, it’s evident that the team owners view their players not as valued individuals but as mere assets to manage under the guise of loyalty.

The harsh reality is that it all boils down to financial interests; a player without a team won't see those hefty paychecks that often lead to financial burdens. It’s a precarious situation: when the higher-ups issue directives about roster decisions, the underlying message is clear—keep certain players off the field, regardless of the justifications offered. The implications are profound, showing how intertwined financial power and player treatment are within the league. In this environment, it’s not just about performance but a calculated game of control.

For a couple of days, I found myself haunted by the ghost of Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick, a name that resonates deeply in football, led the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII, where they faced off against the formidable Baltimore Ravens but ultimately fell short of victory. In 2016, his career took a dramatic turn when his peaceful protest against racial injustice and police brutality, symbolized by his decision to kneel during the National Anthem, captured national attention. Rather than confronting the uncomfortable truths highlighted by his actions, the NFL opted to release him from their ranks, avoiding the stigma of being labeled as racist.

Colin’s decision to kneel, rather than stand with his hand over his heart, was more than just a personal statement; it was a bold and courageous stand to raise awareness about systemic inequalities affecting people of color. However, this protest was met with fierce backlash, painted by many as unpatriotic and incendiary, igniting a firestorm of controversy across the nation. Since that fateful moment, not one of the thirty-two NFL teams has invited him to join their roster, a testament to how uneasy the truth made the league’s owners.

In the shadows of the sports world, whispers of collusion persisted, leading many to speculate about the underlying fears of the league’s leadership. The rising voices demanding justice and accountability were seen threatening the status quo—a modern echo of a restless uprising. Although no one would openly acknowledge any conspiracy, the NFL reached a quiet settlement out of court, leaving many questions unanswered and suspending the truth in ambiguity. His kneeling protests, meant to raise awareness about racial injustice and police brutality, generated intense controversy.

The echoes of history reverberated during the 2025 NFL Draft, particularly surrounding Shedeur Sanders, the promising quarterback from the Colorado Buffaloes. Expected to be the top pick on the first day, anticipation hung thick in the air, yet the reality turned out starkly different. As the draft unfolded over three grueling days, speculation began to swirl—was he being blacklisted?

Conversations ignited regarding his perceived brashness and self-assurance, with whispers about subpar interviews with potential coaches adding fuel to the fire. Critics pointed to his confidence as "uppityness," suggesting that his vibrant personality might overshadow the team dynamics, especially considering the heavy involvement of his father in his burgeoning career. Much has been said about his father, Deion, but few have spoken positively about him. Double standards have existed for too long, and forgetfulness is too short. Archie Manning was involved in Eli’s draft, but that standard is accepted. Such conversations raise unsettling questions about bias and exclusivity, evoking a disconcerting sense of nostalgia for a time when individuals of color were expected to remain in the shadows. In this context, it becomes clear that the narrative surrounding Shedeur Sanders touches on deep-seated issues of race and the persistent challenge of overcoming societal expectations. Shedeur Sanders, born into a family of privilege, used his resources to carve out his path through lucrative NIL contracts and engaging advertisements. However, the respect he deserves has largely eluded him, overshadowed by misconceptions about his character. Few recognize the depth of his intelligence and the strategic thinking he employs; Shedeur knows precisely what he’s doing on and off the field.

A stark truth that owners and coaches often refuse to acknowledge is their failure to understand their players' unique perspectives and motivations. Instead of encouraging dialogue and growth, players are typically expected to comply without question, conforming to a rigid hierarchy. How many leaders have taken the time to inquire about Shedeur’s remarkable academic achievements? With a GPA hovering around an impressive 3.97, he stands as a testament to dedication and hard work, often dismissed as merely “uppity.”

Amidst the pressures and expectations, Shedeur has managed to maintain an unwavering spirit, a feat not easily achieved in the face of judgment and misunderstanding. It raises the question: Do those in authority even notice the resilience and determination he embodies? It appears not. The culture often leans toward “breaking” individuals to enforce compliance, sacrificing their individuality.

The Chicago Bears selected Shedeur in the fifth round, at pick number 144. He celebrated this achievement with his family by jumping into the pool. I hope Shedeur carries a chip on his shoulder and never forgets this moment in football history. Despite the odds stacked against him, he has the potential to equal or surpass Tom Brady's achievements. Never let them see you cry. The people in the world can be so disappointing. This is why we should put our faith in God, not man.

Rest In Peace, Pope Francis!

Pope Francis, the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church, passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, shortly after his last appearance to the world on Easter Sunday. He was born in Argentina on December 17, 1936. In his twenties, Jorge Mario Bergoglio underwent surgery to remove portions of his lung that had been affected by a severe respiratory infection. This health issue continued to impact him as he aged.

In the weeks leading up to his passing, many Catholics feared they were losing him while he was hospitalized, but it was not yet his time. Although he could not conduct Easter services, he deeply missed being with his congregation. He was released from the hospital after 38 days and returned to the Vatican. On Easter Sunday, he was wheeled to the Central Loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica, where he waved at the cheering crowds. He found the strength to thank his nurse and bless the masses, expressing his desire to be with those who loved him. He skipped the meeting with Vice President J. D. Vance but had one of his cardinals relay and repeat his message on compassion that touched on migration.

Elected in 2013, Cardinal Bergoglio took the name Francis. St. Francis of Assisi was known for his devotion to the poor and love for service. He renounced wealth and luxury. Pope Francis took this lifestyle, too. He was known for walking alongside the people and living as they did. Although he could have resided in the extravagant quarters of previous popes, he chose to live in the Vatican’s Guesthouse, a modest suite.

Pope Francis will be remembered as the People's Pope, a leader who encouraged love and mercy among all. He wanted to see unity among Christian Churches and was never afraid to speak out against injustices. Yet, many conservative clergy within the church saw him as a threat because he welcomed all into the church. He had welcomed sinners who were not accepted anywhere else. He had changed the traditions of the papacy, and the enemy within the church had issues with anyone who followed Christ. Who will stand up now in his place? Who is unafraid of vindictive and hateful forces of evil?

Pope Francis’ funeral will be this Saturday, April 26, 2025. Dignitaries around the world will attend, and security will be tight. I pray that peace will prevail, and no one will do anything to disgrace the moment. The world needs a day of peace, even if it’s temporary.

Mindfulness!

The practice of self-awareness has a rich history, yet it often deepens and evolves as one navigates the passage of time. Each year, mindful individuals become increasingly attuned to the subtle transformations within themselves, both body and spirit. They may observe the gradual changes in their physical form, such as the softening of the skin, the shifting contours of their faces, and the surprising appearance of grey hairs sprouting from the nose and ears.

Reflecting on their youth, many might recall witnessing these signs of aging in their elders, and this observation often sparks a sense of wonder. Did those older generations truly acknowledge the march of time, or did they overlook these fleeting signs of life’s inevitable progression? I’m sure they had enough concerns with living during those times. Not much different than now. Different times, different problems.

In the exuberance of youth, distractions abound, making it easy for young people to prioritize what seems urgent over what truly matters. The concerns of earlier years, which once felt paramount, can fade into the background as one grows wiser. This evolution underscores the unique advantages of youth while simultaneously illuminating a profound aspect of maturity: the gradual acceptance of change and the enriched understanding of oneself that comes with embracing the journey of growing up.

Reflecting on my experiences, I realize that my mind can simultaneously spin through a thousand ideas. Yet, in practical terms, I can only focus on a single task at any given moment. It’s as if I wander through a labyrinth of thoughts, often feeling momentarily disoriented. To counteract this mental whirlwind, I seek engaging tasks that capture my attention, particularly in the garden. Working around the yard grounds me and immerses me in nature's vibrant colors and textures, providing a refreshing sanctuary for my restless mind.

Yet, I find it essential to nurture the deeply rooted belief that I possess a purpose—a sense of worth and a duty to guide those who may tread the path I have walked before. I often reflect on the profound Biblical truth, “When I was a child, I acted like a child, but now that I am a man…” We have transcended the fleeting days of our youth; we are no longer the carefree teenagers of 40 or 50 years past. As we embark upon the latter chapters of our journey, navigating this course with intention and integrity is imperative. In this realization, we come to terms with the fact that control was never truly ours to wield, and it remains elusive even now. I must confess that there are moments when I feel utterly adrift, uncertain of how to occupy my time. Yet, paradoxically, I find myself caught in the relentless grasp of a schedule that never seems to allow me the freedom to pursue the things I genuinely desire. That is writing, researching my ancestry, playing word puzzles, walking, learning new things, watching new television programs, and traveling.

Is mindfulness truly making a difference in my life? The answer is a resounding yes! Through consistent practice, I have become better at organizing, compartmentalizing, and managing my thoughts, which used to swirl chaotically in my mind. I often found myself weighed down by the burdensome “wouldas,” “couldas,” and “shouldas” from my past—regrets that seemed to cling to me like shadows.

The journey hasn’t been easy; I face persistent challenges each day. Some guilt lingers from choices I wish I could redo, regret tugs at my heart when I recall missed opportunities, doubt creeps in and makes me question my abilities, and fear can sometimes be overwhelming. These emotions distract me from focusing on the present moment and the positive steps I want to take.

However, I have come to view this struggle as a daily battle, and each time I push through the negativity, I feel a sense of victory. Mindfulness practices—deep breathing, meditation, and grounding techniques—have equipped me with the tools to confront and overcome these obstacles. With each small triumph, I gain more clarity and strength, helping me cultivate a peaceful, resilient mindset. Everyone has personal issues; none of us is exempt.

Lord, the journey has not been easy. I placed my faith in the redemptive nature of humanity, believing it could shine brighter than divine salvation. I clung to the hope that a singular source, a beacon of promise, would elevate me from the shadows of isolation into the radiant embrace of comfort and abundance. I doubted that Your Grace would offer me more than the fleeting support of man. The lessons I’ve learned have come at a steep price, revealing the depth of my misjudgment in the harshest ways. Forgive me. I refuse to become a foolish older man.

Not Double Standards, When Having the Power!

The American public is often told about the importance of “civility,” yet it seems that civility isn’t always applied equally. When Congress...
