Sometimes, we tend to find excuses for the things that don't work out for us. We tend to blame others instead of taking responsibility for our actions, which only elevates the excuses. This behavior also applies to standing up for what is right. We often remain silent and wait for someone else to take the initiative instead of holding ourselves accountable. "What's your excuse, now?" is about empowering ourselves to make choices that will help us feel comfortable and confident in our skin.

Rest In Peace, Ed Harmon!
Dr. George Edwin Harmon
LEXINGTON Dr. Harmon, or Ed as he was affectionately known, passed away
suddenly on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the age of 64. He was a son of the
late George and Annie Ruth Harmon. Ed was educated in the public schools of
Lexington District One before enrolling at USC. After graduating from USC, he
headed to Louisville, Kentucky, with his new wife to attend Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary where he earned a master's degree, followed by his
doctorate, in Old Testament Studies. Ed was an ordained minister who served
churches in Kentucky and South Carolina. He always said that he was called to
serve and to teach, and this was evident during his 16 years on the Lexington
One School Board. He was also very involved in his home church at Lexington
Baptist where he taught a men's Sunday school class for many years. He was a
former deacon and trombone player in the church orchestra. He had been employed
with the Department of Public Safety for over 16 years. He is survived by his
wife, Deb, of 42 years, and a son, Adam, who were the light of his life. Ed is
also survived by brothers, Will (Lisa), David (Teresa); sister, Claire;
father-in-law, Hamp Gaylord; brother-in-law, Chris (Alice); sister-in-law,
Terry (Freddy), as well as many nephews, nieces and friends who already miss
his quick wit, his warmth and his brilliant mind. Services will be held on
Friday, February 10, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Lexington Baptist Church with
visitation starting at 12:30 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow in
Lexington Memorial Cemetery.

My Opinion!
Each
of us has our own opinion and each opinion treated with respect. The way a
person feels, if explained from the heart, need to be respectful and considered
from their point of view. It is important speaking civilly to each other about how
they feel.
The
country is separated by race, partisanship and misunderstanding and people are
afraid to talk about it. Instead of having a dialogue, irrational actions and
demonstrations take its place. When I
see and hear the statement “Make America great again”, I hear return to the
pre-civil rights years. I grew up in that era where each race had their own
places to eat, socialize and look at movies.
In fact, even public water fountains were separate, waiting rooms in
public transportation was separate. At one time, there were separate hospital
waiting rooms. Is this what making America great again, finding ways to stop specific groups of people from voting, rolling back the Voting Rights Act? Something is wrong and we are not talking about what is making the country uneasy. Americans should be stronger since 9/11.
After
this past election, voting results were along party, gender and racial lines.
No, the lines were not clear-cut some crossed because of what they heard and
felt. My question again, is it because of some groups felt that they were
losing their identity, control and/or security? Is it how America is viewed by
the rest of the world? Look how mean
people have gotten towards each other lately. Even as a child, I remembered how
people distrusted Russia and now it is time to make a deal with them.
Even
as Christians, we are staunch hypocrites. Yes, I said it. We choose to forgive
selectively and forget selectively. Nevertheless, we can hold a grudge
selectively, too. Those of you who do practice following the Word know what I
am talking about. We pick selective verses to support our argument.
This
is my opinion.
Get well, Dorothy & Harold! God bless!

Merry Christmas!
"The Family Man" Movie has a warm, loving ending especially for the holidays. Don't ask me why I got into it. Maybe it was the music, like the music in "Castaway" when Tom Hanks returned home and found out his wife remarried. What I liked was the crossroads he turned down returning the Fedex package with the angel wings. We all face crossroads that can change the course of our lives. Choices and decisions are not always easy.
The holidays can remind us of the choices and decisions we made in the past. Some of are still living with them. Choices and decisions and affect the ones we make in our future. Think about them before you make them,
I wish everyone a safe and blessed year!
Stay strong, Dorothy! Hang in there, Harold! My prayers are with you! God bless!

Happy Birthdays!
Happy birthday, Teria, Devin and Colonel. I'm a little late and a little early! I love you all!. This month has quite a few birthdays to celebrate! God bless you!
Never Forget That Day!
It was 15 years ago that 19 al-Qaeda extremists filled with hatred changed the lives and freedoms of innocent Americans. That hate destroyed nearly 3,000 lives and is still destroying lives that were connected. Many people, especially, the 1st responders are still suffering and dying due to health issues associated with being exposed to toxins saving others. Stay in prayer for the land and her people.
There is a lot to be said, but never forget that day!
Dorothy, you are in our prayers. God bless you!

Good Article About the Way People See Things!
Jon
Stewart is back. The former “Daily Show” host came out of retirement to join
his old colleague, Stephen Colbert, on CBS’ “Late Show.”
He
said:
“You feel
that you’re this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that:
This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was. There is no ‘real
America.’
You
don’t own it. You don’t own patriotism, you don’t own Christianity, you sure as
hell don’t own respect for the bravery and sacrifice of military, police and
firefighters. Trust me.
I
saw a lot of people on the convention floor in Cleveland with their ‘Blue Lives
Matter’ rhetoric who either remained silent or actively fought against the 9/11
First Responders Bill reauthorization. I see you, and I see your...”

Good point,

well, Dorothy.

Grace and Mercy!
Mercy & Grace
Mercy withholds the knife from the heart of Isaac.
Grace provides a lamb in the thicket.
Genesis 22:11-14
Mercy runs to forgive the prodigal.
Grace throws a party with a robe, a ring, and a fatted calf.
Luke 15:20-24
Mercy hears the cries of the thief on the cross.
Grace promises paradise that very day.
Luke 23:39-43
Mercy converts Paul on the road to Damascus.
Grace calls him to be an apostle.
Acts 9:1-6, 17
Mercy keeps us out of Hell.
Grace takes us to heaven.
Ephesians 2:8-9
And the difference between mercy and grace is this . . .
Mercy withholds from us what we deserve.
Grace gives us what we do not deserve.
Romans 5:20

In Memory of...
Today is Memorial Day. A day set aside to take a moment to remember the unknown military soldiers who gave their lives for this great nation and never returned home. Some people will question why would they or they died in vain. Those that question has that right because these brave men and women did not die in vain. They died for a bigger purpose that many will never understand. We have to remember what they died for, us.
Side note: I want to include our first responders, law enforcement, EMS, the fire department personnel and all those who sacrificed their lives to keep someone else alive. The rest of you, enjoy your bar-b-que!

Happy Mother's Day!
A sincere Happy Mother's Day to all moms who give their all for their family and are continuing to give even when they are not always appreciated! You know who you are. You are the ones who are hurting and still hurting emotionally, physically and financially and doing everything you can to show family unity. Some of you can hardly move because of physical ailments and still cook, clean and wash while there are able-bodied people in the house who think of themselves. When they should think of the sacrifices that you made. You are the nameless heroines, but the people in your world will! Ladies, I salute you!

Tell The Truth and Shame The Devil!
Get it straight, people. President Obama
is not the “Great Divider” as Donald Trump wants you to believe. The so called “Unifier”
has quickly forgotten that he was part of the birther group who heighten racial tensions to
divide America as soon as the President was elected. Now, the “Divider” is continuing at his
campaign rallies by exploiting good people’s dark sides. And some of them see
things from their side only, even though they may not view things equally. A unifier stands up for his wrongs and does the right thing. One good thing coming out of this mess is the overhauling narrow-minded Republican Party.

POTUS, We Have A Problem!
Associate Supreme Court Justice Antonin
Scalia was found dead at a ranch in West Texas on Saturday. The 79-year-old jurist apparently died of
natural causes after attending a private party of about 40 people at the Cibolo
Creek Ranch, according to reports. Scalia went to his room Friday evening after
telling friends that he wasn’t feeling well, and died in his sleep, CNN
reported. His body was discovered when he failed to appear for breakfast
Saturday.
Before the man is buried the
conservatives has already determine to block the President from nominating a
new replacement. What a shame! They are not interested in the American people
only in their selfish interests. They are hoping that the new President would
nominate another conservative provided that the new President would be a
conservative. However, the Republican Congress would rather go a year with a
vacant seat on the Supreme Court. There are enough issues pending but obviously
they don’t care. And if a Democrat is elected, once again, the same old
hold-ups in Congress will repeat themselves. Congress is an embarrassment.
RIP,
Justice Antonin Scalia!

Go Red!
City Hall, Columbia, SC 2/5/2016 |
Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Fortunately, that can change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action.
And don’t forget to make heart health a priority. Schedule a prevention check-up to review a woman’s overall health so a doctor can measure blood pressure, check cholesterol and look for signs of heart disease, stroke and other illnesses.
